We only have our selves to blame……
We join Social Network Sites because everyone else does. We respond to recommendations and start associating with tenuous ‘acquaintances’. Before long information is being shared that is false or in need of moderating but there is nothing we can do about it ...
FACEBOOK with nearly 500 million members is the World’s largest Social Network Site. Reportedly full of debatable flaws – surely there are other options!? REALSTEW CONNECT thinks so! Let’s compare the fundamental differences between FACEBOOK and REALSTEW CONNECT:

FACEBOOK makes money by selling private data and information sourced from its Members.	REALSTEW CONNECT makes money from the collective strength (Online transactions and votes) of its Members.
FACEBOOK`S record of disrespecting Member privacy is legendary, and they will continue to do so while their profits rely on it.	REALSTEW CONNECT does not need Members private data to offer any of its applications and accordingly the exploitation of its Members privacy will never be an issue.
FACEBOOK systematically links members ‘friends’ and ‘friends of friends’ as well as some ‘tenuous associates’ to a point where Members can be interpreted as ‘tainted’ because of their ‘friend’ associations. There is also no control of what is being said about us.	REALSTEW CONNECT does not allow this to occur, as it is our Members - NOT the system – who decide the associations and communication between each other – in full privacy.
FACEBOOK, in keeping with its ‘we know better’ attitude, subscribes Members to Applications that they ‘think’ Members will ‘like’. It is then made very difficult for the Member to unsubscribe.	REALSTEW CONNECT is a 100% opt-in policy and respects the fact that Members are more than adequately informed to decide what they wish to subscribe to.
FACEBOOK members have difficulty in de-activating their account. In doing so, NO data is deleted; links to ‘friends’ and ‘associates’ remain in place; information and data continues to be added none of which can moderated by the de-activated Member. If the Member logs in again everything is re-activated.	REALSTEW CONNECT Members can unsubscribe with a simple ‘confirmation click’. The Member is removed from ALL notice boards and all records deleted other than the data needed to confirm the ‘unsubscribe request’
FACEBOOK is company controlled and operated by a Board of Directors accountable to its shareholders.	REALSTEW CONNECT Board of Director’s are accountable to its Members because revenue generated from member transactions at REALSTEW is shared with active Members.

TWITTER, like FACEBOOK, has also sold Member communications to search engines, and sees ‘tweets’ (your private communication) as their commercial property. The problem is compounded with search engines linking FACEBOOK and TWITTER data. They now have an even more complete picture of the private lives of its Members. Fine if you want that, but if you had a choice?!

Embedded are two videos with interviews with Mark Zuckerberg (founder and CEO of FACEBOOK) at the D8 Digital Conference that encapsulates ALL of the points raised above. After viewing these videos the question asked was “Is it acceptable to have our privacy eroded in this way?”
